Hope A Life's program Against Early Child Marriages protects girls as young as 13 from forced marriages through prevention, education support, rehabilitation for victims, and economic alternatives for families. We challenge harmful cultural norms and provide pathways for girls to pursue education and self-determination across Kenya.

The Crisis

In Kenya, 23% of girls marry before age 18, driven by poverty, cultural traditions, and limited education access. Early marriage ends education, increases health risks from early pregnancy, and exposes girls to violence and exploitation, perpetuating cycles of poverty.

Our Holistic Approach

We work at multiple levels—individual, family, community, and policy—to create sustainable transformation through prevention, intervention, rehabilitation, and advocacy.

Prevention and Education

Community sensitization campaigns engage parents, religious leaders, and elders to challenge harmful norms. School-based programs equip girls with life skills, reproductive health knowledge, and assertiveness training to resist marriage pressure.

Education Support and Economic Alternatives

Scholarships cover fees, uniforms, books, and sanitary products for at-risk girls. Income-generating opportunities and microfinance for families provide economic stability, eliminating financial justifications for early marriage.

Rescue and Rehabilitation

Emergency rescue services work with police and child protection to intervene in imminent marriage cases. Rescued girls receive shelter, trauma counseling, medical care, legal assistance, and educational reintegration support.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

Traditional and religious leaders become allies in protecting girls. Policy advocacy strengthens legal implementation, improves reporting mechanisms, and ensures perpetrators face consequences.

"I was 14 when my family arranged my marriage. Hope A Life rescued me and gave me a chance to continue education. Today, I'm top of my class and want to become a lawyer." - Amina, Program Beneficiary

Impact & Future

We've protected 3,500+ girls from early marriage and rescued 850+ victims. Communities report up to 60% reductions in early marriage rates. Higher girl enrollment, improved academic performance, and emerging women leaders demonstrate lasting change. We're expanding to reach more vulnerable girls annually.
